After a successful barbecue, sometimes there’s leftover pulled pork β wonderfully tender, smoky, and too good to simply reheat. That’s exactly what happened to me when I still had some pulled pork in the fridge and happened to have a pizza dough in the freezer. The idea was quickly born: why not make a special pizza out of it? A Pulled Pork Pizza! π€
π½οΈ Leftovers Become a Highlight
Using up leftovers doesn’t have to be boring β quite the opposite! π
With a few high-quality ingredients and a well-preheated pizza oven, you can create a pizza that’s truly impressive. Juicy pulled pork meets a light cheese base, fresh onions, and the spicy contrast of a good barbecue sauce. π
π Ingredients (for one pizza):
- 1 pizza dough (approx. 280g, homemade is great)
- approx. 150g Pulled Pork
- 100g Fior di Latte
- 20g freshly grated Parmesan π§
- Β½ red onion, cut into thin rings π§
- Olive oil
- Barbecue sauce to taste π
- optional: some coleslaw as a topping after baking π₯¬

π¨βπ³ Preparation:
- Preheat Oven:
I use the Everdure KILN R pizza oven, preheating it to about 450Β°C π₯. Thanks to the rotating stone, the pizza gets an even browning β without any manual turning. π - Prepare Dough:
Let the pizza dough thaw slowly (if frozen) and spread it out with your hands β don’t roll it β The dough should remain light and airy, as it should be for a good pizza. π - Top the Pizza:
Drizzle some olive oil onto the dough, then spread the Parmesan and Fior di Latte. Then add the pulled pork evenly on top β don’t be shy with it π - Bake:
At approx. 450Β°C, the pizza only needs about 90 seconds π β so stay close! The crust should be golden brown and crispy, and the cheese nicely melted. - Finish:
After baking, add the red onion rings and a few stripes of barbecue sauce on top. If you like, complement it with coleslaw or Puszta salad for extra freshness π₯

π Alternative Toppings β if you fancy a variation:
- π« Puszta salad in a jar β A wonderfully spicy mix of white cabbage, cucumbers, peppers, and onions. It pairs perfectly with pulled pork and adds freshness and crunch to the pizza.
- πΆοΈ Pickled jalapeΓ±os β for a fiery kick
- π§ Smoked mozzarella or scamorza β for even more BBQ character
- π½ Corn β for a touch of sweetness
- πΏ Fresh cilantro or flat-leaf parsley β for a fresh contrast
- π§ Spring onions β mild and aromatic
- π₯ Pickles β an exciting, tangy counterpoint to the meat
β Conclusion
This Pulled Pork Pizza is a great way to creatively use up leftovers β and it’s incredibly delicious! π‘
Whether as a quick dinner or a weekend highlight β it brings variety to the table and is perfect for the BBQ season π½οΈπ€©
